Malin Gold 50N
Recently I’ve been working on some more subtle LUMIX ‘looks’ designed to work in a whole range of scenarios and I’m pleased to be able to share this new one for you all to try, Malin Gold 50N. It’s subtle, warm and produces images that I think sit somewhere between Kodak Gold 200 and Kodak’s motion picture stock 50D. Check out some example images below…
I developed this new ‘look’ by taking some RAW images from my 2025 trip to Malin Head in Co. Donegal, and RAW Processing them until I landed on something cool. The result was this new ‘look’ which I think is reminiscent of a more subtle, slightly more muted version of Kodak Gold 200. It’s got nice contrast and beautiful controlled colours and I can see it working for a lot of people, in a lot of different scenarios…
Malin Gold 50N is based around one of my absolute favourite (and in my opinion one of the most slept on) LUTs I’ve designed called Neagh. For this new ‘look’ I wanted to show how flexible this LUT can be with just a few simple tweaks to the My Photo Style settings.
Before you recreate this ‘look’ for yourself, first you’ll need to get your hands on my LUT Neagh. Download it using the button below…
Underneath Neagh (which is set at LUT Opacity 70%) I have the Photo Style Standard with no other change to the Contrast or Highlights or Shadows or anything, only the i.Dynamic Range set to STD to help this look adapt to scenes with stronger contrast. Neagh has quite muted colours with a lean to the green side and so for this one I have bumped up the Saturation to +2, and tinted the Auto White Balance quite warm and slightly magenta to balance it out.
To finish I’ve sprinkled on just a little bit of Sharpness and set Grain to LOW and that’s about it… the result is Malin Gold 50N. If you’re looking for a nice warm but quite subtle ‘look’ for your JPEGs, you should give this new one a try.
