My First Film Camera, Yashica Electro 35 GTN

I’ve been a full-time professional photographer/video-maker for something like 12 years now. Something I wanted to do right from the beginning was get into shooting 35mm film. It took a while but in 2023 I finally bought my first film camera the Yashica Electro 35 GTN. She was (and still is) an absolute beauty, all she needed were some new light seals which I managed with some janky string and tape (see below)and she was good to go…

I shot some of my first rolls of film with this camera and honestly, looking back they were some of my favourites. Here are a couple of videos I made about this beautiful 35mm film camera back in 2023.

The Yashica Electro 35 GTN is quite a big camera in comparison to other 35mm rangefinders. It’s also on the cheaper side which is a plus. They can however be really unreliable like a lot of film cameras (search ‘Yashica Electro POD’) but if you get a good one like I did, you’re in for a treat. Have a glance at some images I shot with this camera back in 2023.

Looking through these images taken from 3 rolls of film is making me want to get out and shoot more film, especially with the Yashic Electro 35 GTN. Time to dust it off I think.
